Accommodations

The camp's overall capacity is maintained at a level which allows us to offer personalized care and attention to each of our campers.

Individual bunks for our canine campers range in size to accommodate all breeds, from the smallest Chihuahua to the largest Great Dane. Canine family members may bunk together upon request.

Our dog bunks are clean, dry and comfortable with bedding provided for dogs to rest in after vigorous activity in the community play yards.

Comfort and Contentment

Physical comfort plays a big roll in your pet's welfare. The controlled environment of Golden Lake assures that your pet will be cool in the summer and cozy in the winter. The average year-round indoor temperature ranges between 68 and 72 degrees.

Low lighting and continuous soft music create a soothing, homelike atmosphere conducive to rest and relaxation. Both canine and feline campers are provided with food, bedding, and treats.

Exercise and Socialization

The importance of regular exercise and socialization for the health and well being of your dog should not be underestimated. Our basic fee guarantees a minimum 90 minutes of supervised community recreation per day in our outside play areas. We also have roofed yards so bad weather will not spoil your dog's vacation!

For an extra fee, you can plan some special activities for your dog's enjoyment.

These activities include:

Nutrition and Health Maintenance

We believe that it is possible for your pet to return home in as good or better condition than when it arrived at Golden Lake.  Since a healthy camper is a happy camper, we make every effort to provide quality nutrition in a safe, clean environment free of disease and irritants.

Personalized Dining
The single most important factor in maintaining your pet's good health is proper nutrition!

Sara We stock a wide variety of high-density dry dog foods in our kitchen.  After taking into consideration your pet's age, weight, activity level, breed, and current diet, we will select a food that will best meet its nutritional needs.  Golden Lake stocks Wellness, Pinnacle, Science Diet, IAMS, Nutromax, and Pro Plan foods.  If your pet is on a Petscription or other specialized diet, you will need to provide it.  Golden Lake does not stock or feed canned foods unless it is a Petscription diet.

If your pet requires medication or food supplements while at camp, we will be happy to administer them.  We ask that medications and supplements be brought to Camp in a daily pill pack with specific instruction marked on the pill pack.  If medications or supplements are not in a daily pill pack, a fee will be charged to decipher and administer these medications.  (See check in procedures and checklist)

Pet Hygiene
A clean, disease free environment promotes good health.  Our bunkhouses are vacuumed often daily.  The individual bunks are swept and disinfected with bleach water between campers.

Non-neutered pets can create hygiene problems as well as behavioral problems.  For this reason, we WILL NOT board any non-neutered male five months of age or older and any non-spayed female six months of age or older.  Articles are available about early spay/neutering and its benefits. (See articles of interest)

Fleas and other parasitic insects pose a significant threat to your pet's health.  In order to minimize that threat, our facility is professionally treated monthly.  In addition, our counselors check arriving campers for fleas and, if necessary, administers a flea treatment before they enter the bunkhouse.  There is an additional charge for the flea treatment.
